Dad worked at Gilt Edge/ Coloroll carpets in Kidderminster for many years and finally worked at Morgan Matroc in Stourport on Severn.
He suffered a cardiac arrest on the morning of 28th September 1998 and a further 3 within a week, he was in Kidderminster General hospital for 3 months, 2 weeks of that was on a life support machine. Due to the lack of oxygen he acquired a brain injury.
He sadly passed away on 24th February 2003. And was outlived by his mother Dorothy, who passed away September 7th 2003 aged 93.
He leaves behind his wife Rosemarie and son's Mark and Chris.
God bless you dad i miss you so much xx
Thank you John that is a nice thing to say. I know Dad was very popular with his work colleagues, simply for the reason he was so chirpy.

I remember Charley as a really nice man, I worked at Gilt Edge / Colouroll (and the many other names it had) during my time there from April 1972 > November 1990 when it closed for good. I worked in quite a few departments in that 18+ years.., Wilton, Axminster, 951 and Gripper Sheds, Creeling, Weaving and as a Service Pool Operative. As the latter I was part of a team of operatives responsible for pattern / beam changes etc.. for the Weavers, most of whom seemed a quite miserable bunch but Charley was an exception to the rule and always very pleasent to work with. Sadly missed by all that knew him.

God bless
Those we love remain with us,
For love itself lives on'
And cherished memories never fade,
Because a loved ones gone,
Those we love can never be,
More than a thought apart,
For as long as there is memory,
They'll live on in the heart
